I'm feeling really good about the Festival this week. The meeting I had with my boss after my last post was actually really helpful, even though it went for two and a half hours! We discussed the artistic program and I realised that I had been being quite defensive - I should be looking to her as a mentor rather than someone who is trying to hinder me. She has a lot of knowledge that I can draw on, and I think it's a great relationship for me to have and I can learn a lot.

We really solidified a lot of the programming aspects last weekend and made some important decisions regarding artists and timelines - we decided that we needed to have all artists confirmed by the end of April, by which time we also want to have an idea of what they propose to do. I think this is a pretty good goal, as Council applications need to be in by end of May. It's perhaps optimistic to believe that this will happen with the artists, but we'll see!

We also met with the PR company that we have been given as in-kind support, which was really great. They will be taking care of our media strategy, so I'm hoping we can hand it over to them with confidence! They indicated the need for images as soon as possible, so I took my family over to the Festival site on Sunday night with these light suits that I've used for previous works and got my mum to take some photos - she's a photographer, which is pretty handy. I've put some up below.

The major struggle at the moment is figuring out the branding for the Festival. We have no money to do this professionally, but we really want it to look amazing. The hardest thing has been creating a brief within our own group - we're very unclear about what we want, so it's a matter of writing something down and solidifying it into something we can all agree on.

Other than that, I think it's going pretty well! I'm not panicking.... yet.
